Sharing the desire to pass on the ecological, health and social benefits of planting, the Pavillon de l'Arsenal has invited Merci Raymond, creative urban gardeners, to lead participatory workshops for the general public. Set up in a dedicated area of the exhibition, they invite everyone to reconnect with nature on the scale of their own home or territory.
SEED POTS AND EGG CARTON SEMIS
The workshop begins with an introduction to the gardening profession, the importance of nature in the city and the principles of the planting and sowing cycle. The facilitators then suggest that participants plant different seedlings using the egg carton as a container. At the end of the activity, everyone is invited to take home their own produce (fruit, vegetables, herbs: eggplant, tomato, basil, edible flowers...) to plant in the spring, on their balcony or in their garden.
Duration: 1h
Dates: Wednesday May 15 at 3pm and Wednesday June 19 at 3pm
Public: 5 years and over (children must be accompanied)

SOIL LIFE AND REGENERATION
The workshop begins with an oral quiz to test participants' knowledge of soils and to discover: the formation and composition of soil, its importance for the climate and the biodiversity it contains... Participants are then invited to handle different types of soil in terms of typology and quality, and observe how they behave in real-life situations. Finally, participants leave with seeds to support the development of their own plants and put this eco-systemic vision of soils into practice at home.
Duration: 1h

THE PLANT ART OF KOKEDAMA
The workshop begins with an introduction to the gardening profession, the importance of nature in the city and plant design. Next, participants are invited to create a kokedama: a Japanese plant art that involves making a ball of earth around the roots of a plant, and covering it with moss. This technique enables the soil to retain its moisture for longer. Participants are guided through the whole process, and leave with their own creation to green their homes.
