After presentation, in 2008, a model of the project LUMA / Park of Studios to its preliminary stage of cultural utopia, the LUMA foundation invites the public to discover the ultimate model conceived by the American architect Frank O. Gehry. The project materialized in an architectural program established for a new multi-purpose cultural site, integrated into the urban area(conglomeration) of the City of Arles.
The model will be exposed in preview to Pavillon de l'Arsenal, which will welcome at the ground floor a device declining the architectural project with various scales. Explanatory panels and diverse models of studies will complete the presentation by redrawing the process of creation of the project LUMA / PARK of Workshops, fruit of a collective work.
Gathering local and international experts, accompanied with the Region Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur and of the City of Arles and in dialogue with Editions Actes Sud, tle Festival des Rencontres Internationales de la Photographie et l’Ecole Nationale Supérieure de la Photographie, LUMA foundation orchestrated, during almost two years, a collective reflection around the project. It is in this group dynamics that the main plan of all of the site was conceived by Frank O. Gehry in dialogue with Low Smets, Belgian landscape architect.
To begin a reflection on the missions of the site and its programming, the LUMA foundation set up a committee established by artists and by professionals of the world of the art. Core Group met regularly and these fruitful exchanges ended in the definition of the big orientations of the project LUMA / Park of Studios and in the elaboration of its architectural program.
The period of the deadline of instruction of the building permit will be used to pursue the reflection. Other personalities of the environment of the art, the research, the education as well as the various actors and the partners of the project, will be invited to join the initial working group to develop together the contents and establish a programming of opening of the site LUMA / Park of Studios. The publication of a book, being prepared, will redraw the history of the project by documenting the various stages of conception of the site.
