Paris Shaped by Engineers

 01 October 1995 - 01 January 1996 Scientific curator :
Bertrand Lemoine, architecte, ingénieur
Marc Mimram, architecte, ingénieur

Scenography : Marc Mimram, architecte, ingénieur

The exhibition aimed to show the diversity of engineering work, not by stressing the techniques and technologies used in urban development, but by showing their visible consequences, from the large scale to the detail, and by demonstrating how the technician's approach shapes the city, sometimes without quite measuring the effects on the architecture and townscape.

The accent was mainly placed on the construction phase of a structure or building - a key, revealing stage in the often unseen work of the engineer. Therefore a lot of space was given to photographs of building sites. The visitor also saw many previously unexhibited models, original documents and a large number of old photographs by well-known photographers.
