The exhibition "Architectures Transformées - Renovation and Conversion in Paris" proposed to show how buildings designed years or even centuries earlier, sometimes for other purposes than those they now serve, can be adapted either by slight modifications or major renovation projects.

The specific nature of this type of architectural work requires that architects closely analyze the brief data drawn up by the contracting authorities in view of respecting the history of the building. The exhibition presented more than 100 completed projects divided into 3 themes based on the initial use of the building: housing, facilities and activities. A fourth, wider theme showed the evolution of the neighborhoods. The presentation of the exhibition in the form of sliding panels displayed, through photographs, drawings and blueprints, the buildings "before" in black and white and "after" in color, thereby providing a very clear-cut reading of the transformations that have been made. The exhibition also presented models of some of the works projects. It was also possible to discover, alongside the main exhibits, literary texts and quotations illustrating the theme in which they were situated.
