The architectural conception of the 6th Parisian luxury hotel was entrusted to Edouard François according to the Anglo-Saxon procedure " shell and core ". "Shell", it is the outside volumetry, the facades and their highlit, the landscaping. "Core", it is the general functioning of the hotel, the organization and the definition of spaces limited to the primary subdivision. " Inside ": materials (covers of walls / grounds / ceilings), thicknesses (false ceilings, double walls, niches, columns and alcoves), atmospheres (color and lights) and furnitures, are not a part of the mission of the architect. They are the matter of decoration. In this context, and in narrow dialogue with Dominique Desseigne, Edouard François has beforehand neither challenge nor the important stakes in development, to conceive the luxury hotel and emphasize it in the triangle of Parisian gold.
For the project: - unite seven buildings of the island to give them to read as a whole. - position the new set so trained(group so trained, set so formed, group so formed), in Parisian monument. - group the courts in a unique spectacular garden. - draw spaces and traffic fluides, crystal clear and without constraints. - set up " architecture of the service(department) " for 350 employees of the luxury hotel. - Re-concevoir the back offi it of the Fouquet to associate the restaurant with the luxury hotel. - Create a unique spa with multi-service, kind of project in itself in the hotel. In the opening of the hotel, the said facades of " molded pierced " stone grey, as well as 8000 pure aluminum branches of the garden, will be the only visible elements of Edouard François's intervention. These elements are of the copyright. The said facades of molded pierced were the object of a public performance registered in Pavillon de l'Arsenal, and presented in 2005 to the International Fair of Contemporary Art of Basel. - Édouard François
