"The Lourcine barracks, located in the 13th arrondissement of Paris, has a military square with its military buildings built in 1875.
The programme includes the installation of part of the University of Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne: library, amphitheatre, classrooms, offices, take place in the old buildings and basements of the Place d'Armes. The project aims to enhance this Parisian heritage through a detailed intervention that allows the existing spaces to be preserved as much as possible and to preserve the trace and history of the site. That is why we are seeking to adapt the program and its new uses without removing traces of the past. The square retains its unifying and symbolic function, it is inclined in a landscaped square highlighting the new access to the gallery and the amphitheatre. The reading rooms and classrooms are integrated into the existing system by using its spatial qualities (height under the floor, nobility of materials). "
